“ Should animals be used in testing new drugs and procedures?”
Animal Testing

Medical research involving animals has dramatically improved the health of the human race. Without animal testing, the cure for polio would not exist and diabetics would suffer or die from their disease. Despite these benefits, some people believe that animals should not be used for testing medical techniques and drugs. In my view, animal testing is absolutely beneficial for human beings.

Animal testing allows scientists to test and create new drugs. Animals such as monkeys or rabbits have similar physical processes to humans. This allows scientists to test the effects of certain drugs. If a drug produces adverse effects in animals it is probably unfit for human use.

Animal testing is cheap. There is a large supply of animals for medical research. Animals are easily bred, and maintained safely in controlled labs. The costs of testing in humans would be extremely high.
Many people argue that animal testing is cruel. In some cases this is true. However it would be much more cruel to test new drugs on people or children, or to let people die because there was not enough information about a drug. Furthermore, legislation in most countries sets standards for animal treatment, and laboratories have guidelines to prevent cruelty.

Opponents of animal research also say that information from animals does not apply to humans. They point to certain commercial drugs which have been withdrawn because of side-effects in humans. While it is true that animal systems differ from human systems, there are enough similarities to apply information from animals to humans.
Animal rights campaigners claim that we don’t need new tests because we already have vast amounts of information. However, many new deadly infections appear every year and new treatments and drugs are needed to combat these deadly plagues.

To sum up, animal testing is needed in the world we live in. Our responsibility is to manage the animals in our care and balance their suffering against the good that comes from them.

Passing of Time

I have always been a sports car lover, but when my family increased in size to the point that finding a sports car that would meet my needs would be almost impossible, I decided to consider a minivan. While a sports car was an unrealistic possibility, giving it up would not be easy. The sports car and the minivan would both fulfill the basic requirement of reliable transportation, but I had to consider the differences among size, maneuverability and affordability.

Stepping into a minivan for the first time was like looking over the edge of the Grand Canyon. Unlike sports cars that sit only inches off the ground, here I was sitting so high I felt as if I would get a bloody nose. Since I had brought the baby with me on this excursion, I had to move the car seat to the van. I was amazed with the easy access to the back seats made possible by the rear sliding doors. It was a sharp contrast to the bending, stooping and twisting it took to get the baby, and the car seat, into and out of the back seat of my sports car. Score one for the minivan. However, when the baby lost his bottle and I reflexively reached back to fumble around the floorboard in search of it I realized I could barely touch the backseat floorboard, let alone retrieve the bottle.

The test drive further emphasized the differences of the van. Trying to pull out of the parking lot, I felt like there was a bullseye painted on the side. The sports car was very responsive, one quick stomp on the gas and I would have been out in front of the traffic that had just begun to proceed through the intersection; not so in the van. Sitting on top of the world with what felt like a tractor-trailer following behind me, I was not going to be able to make any such moves. A slow, more dignified maneuver would be required. After all, I was driving a "mom-mobile." Sitting on top of the world had its advantages. The visibility was great. I could not only see the back of the vehicle in front of me, the only view afforded a sports car driver, I could see through its windshield to the traffic in front of it. I would not have to rely on the judgement of the person in front of me to determine how quickly the traffic was slowing; I could see it myself.

Then there were the cost issues to consider. Although the van costs about the same as a sports car, the insurance costs were less. I'm guessing the insurance underwriters think that if you are carrying your children with you, you would be less likely to "stomp" on the gas to beat the traffic. Repairs and maintenance were also equal, but gas mileage was not as good in the van.

The real struggle with giving up my sports car was an emotional one. It took me a long time to deal with the reality that moving into a minivan was another "rite of passage." I was moving into a new phase of my life. I was leaving the "yuppie" lifestyle behind and embracing the "responsible parent" stage of life. While I was thrilled to be a parent, the image it conjured up was not how I envisioned my self. When had I changed?

Mother Nature
Tornadoes are one of the deadliest and most unpredictable villains mankind will ever face. There is no rhyme or reason, no rhythm to it’s madness. Tornados are one of the most terrifying natural events that occur, destroying homes and ending lives every year. April 29th, 1995, a calm, muggy, spring night I may never forget. Joey, a buddy I grew up with, just agreed to travel across state with me so we could visit a friend in Lubbock. Joey and I were admiring the beautiful blue bonnets, which traveled for miles like little blue birds flying close to the ground. The warm breeze brushed across the tips of the blue bonnets and allowed them to dance under the perfectly clear blue sky. In the distance, however, we could see darkness. A rumbling sky was quickly approaching.

We continued down the infinitely long interstate towards our destination. Thunder clouds continued to rumble in, like an ocean tide rolling closer and closer to the beach front. Within minutes the entire landscape was calm and dark. It looked like a total eclipse of the sun, and the once moving blue bonnets were now completely still and somber. The rain began to trickle down out of the sky. The sound of the rain, as it hit our car, was like that of pins dropping on a metal surface. The intensity of the rain increased as we ventured further into the eye of the storm.

As we approached an overpass, we noticed a parking lot of used cars piled underneath. By now, the rain had created a wall of water, which surrounded our car. We decided to pull over and sprint to the underpass to join the other frightened observers. What Joey and I were unaware of, what we couldn't possibly know, was that a tornado was already on the ground frantically spinning its way towards our position.

The twister had just hit the ground and was gaining power and strength as it devoured everything in its path. We found ourselves even more frightened than we were just moments ago. The whirling "finger of God" was approaching us at a tremendous rate. The sound surrounding us was outrageous, it sounded something like a steam locomotive roaring towards us, whining and whistling with an awful high pitched roar. As the rumbling cloud of darkness approached us, we started to realize it's outstanding power. This event would be one that we wouldn't soon forget. The rain had almost completely stopped, but the wind was nearly blowing us off the ground as we huddled together under the overpass. We could hear the screeching sounds of car tires as they started sliding across the rain-soaked cement pavement. Electrical explosions lit up the darkened sky as the tornado ripped over power lines, snapping them as if they were toothpicks. Screams erupted from the crowd as the tornado crossed directly over us, smashing large objects into the overpass payment. We were terrified as the twister rumbled over the roadway leaving us untouched.

Shortly thereafter it vanished from the sky, leaving only shattered pieces of falling fence posts and telephone polls. Everyone slowly unraveled from the huddle that had protected them moments earlier. The sun started poking holes in the dark rumbling sky; the wind and rain had completely ceased, leaving it morbidly calm. The sun burned away every trace of lingering darkness in the sky. It was amazing to look back and see a mile long trail of destruction surrounded by homes and fences that were left totally untouched.

I remember thinking to myself how amazing this moment was, and how grateful I was to be alive. Anytime I look back on those few moments of my life, it makes me realize that I must cherish every single moment of it.

WHICH ONE IS BETTER TO YOU?

I have always loved walking aroun. Now I'm living in Denizli and it is a good city, but although there are not so many places to go Forum Çamlık and Teras Park are two places which are the most populer places in Denizli. These two shopping malls are very different but also similar in some ways.

Firstly,Forum is smaller than Teras and Teras has more stores than Forum's.The cinema tickets and game places for students are more expensive in Teras.Similarly, the prices of Teras' stores do not fit students' purses. In contrast, they are cheaper in Forum. Also,Teras is too far away from city center and I have to pay for the road to go there, but my house is near Forum and I can go on food to go there.

Contrary to,these differences, there are many similarities between them. For example both of them are shopping malls. Both malls' stores sell good, quality and well-known brand products.People enjoy both of them. When we enter these buildings it is possible to see the liveliness, activities and entertainment. These buildings are invested much and they are decorated with colourful lights.

In our country or even in this city which I live it is nice to see these kinds of places.Even if they are apparently different, they will continue to attract people as much as possible.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE
Everybody falls in love in their lives and they want to live the rest of their lives together with their loved ones.In our country, some people marry foreign ones and most of them say that they are happy. In addition, the rate of this kind of marriage has increased in recent years.Have you ever thought a marriage to someone from another country, then? In my opinion there are more useful and harmful reasons with this subject.

First of all, religions and beliefs are different and families may oppose to this idea.Second,it may be a disaggrement where to stay after marriage: While you want to stay in your own country, your spouse wants to stay in his own country. However,as the opposite of all these disaggrements, there are o lot of aggrements, too. For example you can leran another language and culture.Your child or children will be billigual. Then, you can introduce your culture to other places.

In short,it is a confusing sitiuation.Unless there is an obstacle, people do whatever they want.Falling in love and marrying someone is a good thing to me.
